No. 133 – April, 2007

Greetings,

A couple of years ago, while I was in our loft-office working, I heard a thumping on the front window in the great room.  As I walked carefully down the steps to investigate I saw a large black bear standing on his hind feet looking in the window.  He was swatting at the bird feeder with a front paw and then wacking the window.  So, when I heard thumping on the front window the other day, I figured it was another bear wanting a meal.

When I went down to check out what was making the noise I discovered that it wasn’t the bears that had come out of hibernation – it was the mosquitoes!!  MOUS (Mosquitoes Of Unbelievable Size) can make as much noise as hungry black bears.  I guess we might be in for a long summer!

“Aren’t you afraid to go to Israel at this time?”

Ever since my first trip to Israel in 1981 I have many people ask me this question.  (And, it seems that right before each of the trips I have taken to Israel there has been some sort of flare up over there.)  People are sure that I am going to be blown up while I am in Israel or on my way there or back.  They have to be sure to make me aware of the fact that I am not going to come back from my trip.

Every time I have gone to Israel I have been changed in some way.  Sometimes my faith grows.  Sometimes my heart for Israel grows.  Sometimes my heart breaks for the people.  Every time my love for the Lord grows!
I give my life to the Lord every day and I believe that He will protect me wherever I go.  Scriptures tell us that if we trust Him He will direct our paths and show us where to go and where to not go.  If I believe that the Lord is directing me to go somewhere then I am safer going where He is directing me than I am to stay home in front of the TV.

THE EASTER PROMISE FOR CHRISTIANS:  We believe that the Lord destroyed evil on the cross and gave us hope when He rose from the grave.  We also believe that He protects us from evil as we give our lives to Him daily.
THE PASSOVER PROMISE FOR JEWS:  Jews believe that the Lord preserved the lives of the Jewish first born when He caused the Angel of Death to “pass over” them.  The Lord then changed Pharaoh’s plans and had him allow the Jews to leave for the Promised Land.

“You Shall Fear Evil No More.” Zeph. 3:15

As you read the Bible you learn of the numerous times that the Lord protected His people from evil.  In both the Old and the New Testaments we see the Lord intervene in the lives of people and “change things on the ground.”  From the challenges faced by David, Daniel, Job, Esther & Ruth to those faced by Mary, Peter, Steven, Paul & Philip we find the Lord showing up on their behalf.  They had victory through the power and strength of the Lord!

I know people who say they trust the Lord yet will not fly in an airplane, drive in traffic or reach out to new people.
Things are really becoming tense in the world right now and the Lord needs people who are not afraid of new adventures.  He needs Christians and Jews who He can send anywhere at any time for any reason.  He works through people and He needs to be able to find those who can be His hands, His mouth and His heart to the world.
If we REALLY believe that He is in charge of our lives then there should be nothing that we are too afraid to for Him!!!

A Small Step!

I would like to challenge you to begin taking small steps in conquering your fears.  Every morning ask the Lord to give you the opportunity to chip away at one of your fears.  Ask Him to give you the courage to take the small step you need to take.  If you do this every day you will soon see that you have taken giant steps and are free of some of the things that have been holding you back from fulfilling your destiny.

Israel needs, the world needs, the Lord needs you and me to join in the grand adventure going on around us!!

A Time to Pray!!
PRAYER TIME EACH EVENING

Someone has said if Christians really understood the full extent of the power we have available through prayer, we might be speechless. In W.W.II there was an advisor to Churchill who organized a group of people who dropped what they were doing every day at a prescribed hour for one minute to collectively pray for the safety of England, its people and peace.

There is now a group of people organizing the same thing here in America.

If you would like to participate: Every evening at 9:00 pm Eastern Time (8:00 PM Central) (6:00 PM Pacific), stop whatever you are doing and spend one minute praying for the safety of the United States, our troops, our citizens, and for a return to a Godly nation. If you know anyone else who would like to participate, please pass this along.

Our prayers are the most powerful asset we have. Together, we "CAN" make a difference! Thank You, and God Bless America.   CHPP News Brief 2/28/07
NOTE: If you decide to join this prayer time, please include Israel.

Signs of the Times!!
Hamas TV: Disengagement Key to Israel’s Destruction
by Ezra HaLevi

Hamas-controlled television is broadcasting a statement by the group’s late leader Ahmed Yassin several times a day saying Israel’s withdrawal from Gaza is the key to the destruction of the entire Jewish state.

Continuing his prediction of where the Disengagement would lead, Yassin said: “When this process will end, they will become a state with no ability, helpless. They established a state to protect the Jews from death and murder. If death and murder chase them in Tel Aviv, Jerusalem, Netanya and everywhere among them, then they will say: 'What am I doing here? I founded a state to protect me from death, and if death chases me, I want to flee and go back to Europe and America.'”

PMW says the video clip is shown multiple times daily. “The frequency that this has been playing on Hamas TV – for example, seven times on March 12th alone - indicates how important this political message is to Hamas,” PMW Director Itamar Marcus says. “Fatah and Hamas have been competing for years in taking credit for the terror that they say forced the government of Ariel Sharon to decide to leave Israeli towns in the Gaza Strip.”  Arutz 7 News 3/15/07 (edited by Is 40 for highlights)

Four-Year-Old Girl Vows to Be Suicide Terrorist
Hamas TV broadcast today [March 21] a video dramatization of the four-year-old daughter of female suicide bomber Reem Riyashi singing to her dead mother and vowing to follow in her footsteps. The video clip ends as the little girl picks up sticks of explosives from her mother’s drawer.

The Al Aqsa TV children’s program shows a child actress playing the daughter, watching Riyashi preparing the bomb and asking her mother, “Mommy, what are you carrying in your arms instead of me? A toy or a present for me?” She later sees a TV news story about her mother’s suicide mission and death and realizes her mother had been carrying a bomb.

“Only now, I know what was more precious than us…” she sings of the bomb.  Although she misses her mother, she vows to follow in her footsteps.
Background: “Reem Riyashi killed four Israelis and wounded seven at the Erez crossing between Gaza and Israel in 2004. She gained the sympathy of the Israeli soldiers at the checkpoint by telling them that she had a metal plate in her leg that would trigger the metal detector. After she was taken to a room to be searched privately, she detonated the bomb hidden under her clothes.”

The following is the text of the song that Duha, Reem’s daughter, sings to her mother: [Daughter sees mother preparing explosives sticks] “Mommy, what are you carrying in yo ur arms instead of me? [Mother turns to hide bomb] A toy or a present for me? Mommy Reem! Why did you put on your veil? Are you going out, Mommy? Come back quickly, Mommy. I can’t sleep without you, unless you tell me and Ubaydah [her brother] a bedtime story.”

[Daughter sees mother's picture and news story about bombing on PA TV] “My mother, my mother, me and Ubaydah are awake and waiting for you to come to put us to sleep. Me and Ubaydah, oh Mommy, still need you to wipe our tears. Instead of me you carried a bomb in your hands. Only now, I know what was more precious than us. May your steps be blessed and may you be flawless for Jerusalem. Me and Ubaydah wish we were there with you.”

[Images of her mother’s grave and the graves of other terrorists, including Aayat Al-Akhras, 17-year-old female suicide terrorist] “Send greetings to our Messenger [Muhammad] and tell him: ‘Duha loves you.’ My love will not be [merely] words. I am following Mommy in her steps. [Finds explosives that mother left in her drawer, picks up stick of explosives] Oh Mommy, oh Mommy.”  (By Itamar Marcus and Barbara Crook, Palestinian Media Watch, March 21, 2007)

Israel Develops System to Neutralize Nuclear Waste
by Ezra HaLevi  (IsraelNN.com)

Israel has developed a new technology that is supposed to safely dispose of radioactive waste. The system was developed by Environmental Energy Resources (EER), an Israeli company that helped clean up after the Chernobyl nuclear disaster, and is based on plasma gasification melting (PMG) technology. The toxic waste is turned into a highly ionized gas, broken down, solidified, melted and vitrified - forming a solid glassy environmentally benign material when cooled.

CLOWN FISH SAFEGUARD YOUR SKIN

Ever come home from a day at the beach with itchy red bumps?  That’s a sign you’ve been in contact with baby jellyfish, which are often too small to see in the ocean, explains dermatologist Audrey Kunin, M.D.  Only clown fish are immune to their sting, and Israeli scientists recently discovered why: They have a protective coating make of minerals and connective protein.  Now, it’s being re-created and sold all over the world to protect swimmers against these rashes!  Woman’s World Magazine 3/6/07
